“I am passionate about this course because it is not taught in the traditional manner. Students learn experientially and get the opportunity to work closely with community members to gain a better understanding of their local environment. They develop a sense of stewardship and appreciation to the world around us. It makes learning more relevant and engaging for the students, which is why I believe this class is so beneficial.”

“Since I was a child I have had a love for Sisters and all of the opportunities it has given me. This love has in turn created sadness within me, when I see people that do not appreciate the beautiful place they live in. As a result, my goal and passion as an IEE teacher is helping the students gain a sense of place, or appreciation for their surroundings. I want to help students achieve this through service, activities, and learning.”

“My goal is to encourage students to reach beyond themselves-to strive to see through multiple sets of eyes. I wish to help instill a genuine awareness and commitment to their own surroundings. I want to help them use critical thinking skills as well as helping students see relevance of learning. And lastly to help students develop a passion for lifelong learning and to want to share their passion with others.”
